The Rose

The Rose by Lexi Sundell

The Rose is an acrylic painting 16″wide by 24″high, another painting for my recent book of techniques. The petals had the most delicious colors blending in and out of shadows!

The soft texture of the petals is enhanced by the glossy deep green leaves which catch the light so well. A subtle green background lets the flower really shine in this work.

The painting is available from RiverStone Gallery in Ennis, Montana. To give as a gift or to enjoy for yourself, giclee prints of this painting are available.

Daisy Tidy Tips

Daisy Tidy Tips by Lexi Sundell

Tidy Tips shows a wildflower really named “tidy tips” from California. The flower grows well in my gardens and is shown in this painting peeking from behind a nasturtium leaf. The variegated greens dropping into the shadows gives a sense of space behind the flower.

Water drops add another dimension to the painting. I really love painting the interesting light in water drops.

This is a small acrylic painting, 20″ high, and I included it in my recent book of techniques. We recently shipped it to its new home. Happily to give as a gift or to enjoy for yourself, giclee prints of this painting are available.

Gladiolas

Gladiolas by Lexi Sundell

Gladiolas is a small acrylic painting, 12″ wide by 22″ high, which was painted for my recently completed book. These flowers have an alluring combination peach tones which made this a popular painting in the gallery. The greens offset the blossoms for maximum impact.

I rushed out and ordered even more gladiolas bulbs because I love painting them so much. My gardens inspire my paintings but my paintings also inspire my gardens.

This painting did not last long in the gallery before it found a happy home! Fortunately to give as a gift or to enjoy for yourself, giclee prints of this painting are available.

Center of the Sun

Center of the Sun by Lexi Sundell

Center of the Sun, 60″ wide by 46″ high, glows with reds and purples of a backlit poppy. This flower demands notice and yet invites you into its heart.

This painting led two different women in the same week to spontaneously burst into tears when they saw it in the gallery. I was startled, to say the least. Each of them seemed to be having a major heart opening.

I never quite know what is going to happen with my paintings.

To give as a gift or to enjoy for yourself, see the giclee prints of this painting.

Sun Angel

Sun Angel by Lexi Sundell

Sun Angel, 30″ wide by 40″ high, is an intimate portrait of the center of a sunflower. The petals are protective, yet invite you into the flower. I loved creating the rich butterscotch yellows and deep shadows of this painting.

Each year I grow quite a collection of sunflowers and their seeds are happily consumed by the goldfinches, to my delight. This year apparently due to the drought the deer ate the tops of many of my sunflowers, which is most unusual. But this one escaped unscathed and glows from the canvas in memory of summer.

This painting is available at RiverStone Gallery in Ennis, Montana. To give as a gift or to enjoy for yourself, see the giclee prints of this painting.
