Awakening shows two blooms of an amaryllis with more buds yet to open. The dark background brings the radiance of the flowers into their full power and grace. They glow with a blazing yellow light which spreads into the soft textured white petals. The bluegray shadows add a touch of mystery as one gazes into the depths of the painting.
This painting, 54 inches wide and 36 inches high in acrylic on canvas, has been sold but giclee prints are available for your enjoyment in your home or as a gift.

Bellflowers are most enchanting flowers in the campanula family. These radiant and delicate blooms rise on the foliage like cups of light. The grace with which the blue and white flowers intermingle adds to the appeal of this lovely painting.
Bellflowers is a small painting, 12 inches wide by 16 inches high. The original can be found at RiverStone Gallery in Ennis, Montana. In addition, giclee prints are available on this site.

Twin Flames is painted from my all time favorite amaryllis plant. I have grown it for years and the way the petals fringe slightly in the flowers from this bulb never fail to delight me. After awhile I simply gave all the other bulbs away.
These flowers have an enthralling inner light glow which draws one deep into the painting. The distinct green deep in the flower emphasizes this effect. Sometimes a blush of the faintest shades of red appears on the petals, creating more interest in the flowers. A combination of warm and cool colors adds vibrant sparkle to the painting.
This painting is sold quickly after completion and flew away in someone’s private jet. However, to give this image as a gift or to enjoy for yourself, see the giclee prints of the painting.

Painting Acrylic Flowers A-Z is just now being released! I am quite excited at this after the long and demanding process of actually creating the book.
I painted over 50 paintings for the book with a series of deadlines keeping me working almost all the time I was not sleeping or eating. Yes, I did stop painting and writing when I ate, which I suppose is quite decadent, but hey, we all have our little vices!
The book includes full color images from my paintings of 40 different flowers. Each flower has a palette list of paints needed, instructions for painting, and illustrations of specific techniques which are explained in a special detail for each flower.
There are additional sections showing other paintings which discuss the basics of setting up your palette, composition, troubleshooting, and other areas of interest to the painter. The price is $29.99 plus shipping by priority mail. I will autograph it for you as well.
For those of you who buy the book, please be sure to let me know what you think about it. I focussed on being as comprehensive as possible yet clear and concise to fit the space alloted. I am really pleased with the publisher’s layouts, which I think made the book beautifully enjoyable and usable.
For some surpises during publication, see Launch of My New Book.

The launch of my new book, Painting Acrylic Flowers A-Z has brought some surprises along the way, and some of them are quite a lot of fun.
For example, this website about my artwork just went live last week and yesterday I was doing a search to see if it been indexed by Google yet. In the course of discovering that it has indeed been indexed, I found something else.
I was used to seeing the pre-publication pages about my book on Amazon and elsewhere, but somehow I had never expected to see the Amazon page about it in Japanese! It has been so long since I studied Japanese for an art history class I could not read a word of it, but it was fun anyway!
I found other versions of the book also. I already knew about the Australian version published by Simon and Schuster because the publisher sent me an advance copy. It has a slightly different title, Acrylic Painter’s A-Z of Flowers, and a different version of the cover than the American edition. Actually, I think the Australian cover is the best one.
I may yet change my mind when I receive the American version, which I have not yet seen in person. I hope that shipment arrives today, but it will be soon if not today.

Here is an image of the Australian cover.

Glory is an interesting little painting that packs a big punch. Only 12 inches wide by 16 inches high, as soon as I finished it, everyone wanted it. I had three women in the gallery at the same time having a conflict about who would get to purchase the painting!
The image shows the center of a glowing morning glory, with traces of purples in the petals. The blush of yellow in the center of the flower makes the whole composition come to life.
I am pleased to say that the painting now lives happily in Hawaii. For those who would like to enjoy this image in their own home or give it as a gift, I have giclee prints available.
